This is a brilliant KS3 SOW that has really improved out recruitment for GCSE! 50% of our intake reported that they enjoyed this unit so much that it was part of their decision to pick GCSE Religious Studies.
This unit comprises of 7 lessons which allow students to explore key ideas around war and peace such as War, Terrorism, the Just War Theory, Non-violence and the good that religion does in our society. It challenges students to think about the positives that religion brings and whether wars are the fault of religion or actually due to other human motivations. m
Each lesson begins with a an editable retrieval task which heps students to build knowledge across the unit. Each lesson ends with a written task which allows students to consolidate knowledge and build links whilst also practicing key skills such as describing, explaining, comparing and building an argument. Additionally homework tasks are included along with a debate assessment which allows teachers to assess and mark effectively whilst managing their workload.
