This word document should be printed off (sheets back to back) and made into a thorough reference booklet for the student to support him/her in their preparation of the stimulus speaking cards for Theme 3. Students are expected to use it as a working document and make their own notes within.

The 33 numbered pages include:

• a contents page
• the marking criteria for the stimulus card
• information on the ‘Le monde francophone’
• a list of useful phrases to convey data and information
• an example of how to start / structure your answers
• useful phrases to introduce opinions and arguments
• further useful connecting phrases
• an overview of the three sub-themes
• a broad range of key verbal phrases, nouns and adjectives for each of the three sub-themes
• some topic sentences to translate into French to practise the vocabulary
• some general questions on each sub-theme to discuss and practice
• some space for students to make their own notes

Suggested answers for these translations are also included at the end for the teacher only, so should not be included in the student’s booklet.

The vocabulary and facts have largely been lifted from AQA texts found in the course books and workbooks but it is expected that students will be exposed to other source materials and do their own research – and there is space within this booklet to make their own notes.
