4 weeks worth of Guided Reading tasks and accompanying question slides based on Oliver and the Seawigs by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre. Lessons were planned and delivered to LKS2 classes.
Lessons were created to explicitly teach each of the 5 vipers skills: Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explaining, Retrieval, and Summarising.
Pack contains:
1 complete slideshow containing 5 lessons a week for 4 weeks
Individual documents containing tasks for each of the lessons
The lesson sequence is as follows:
Monday – Prediction
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – Other VIPERS skills (one focus skill per week)
Friday – Summarising
Weekly skills focus:
Week 1: Vocabulary
Week 2: Inference (including 1 x linked image lesson)
Week 3: Retrieval
Week 4: Explaining
Tasks include:
Finding definitions of words in the text
Inferring characters feelings
Creating comic strips to summarise the text so far
