The classic text Looking for Alibrandi is well-loved for a reason! These three worksheets provide context and help students deal with some of the key ideas of the novel.

The first worksheet is a very simple context research task with internet research questions for students to complete.

The second worksheet deals with the way identity is established in Chapter 1, including how symbols, positive and negative language are used to shape our understanding of Josie’s mixed identity.

The third worksheet deals with Chapter 14 and the theme of mental health, when John Barton first makes clear that he is not ok. While touching on textual analysis, the focus here is more on understanding the ideas themselves, with questions about what advice would be appropriate to give John, where to look for help etcetera.

Each worksheet is two pages long and included in both Word and pdf formats to allow for flexibility.
