This marking code can save you hours. It given specific advice on how to improve common errors for every assessment objective (1-5). It gives examples of errors and how to improve. You simply circle a sentence/paragraph the student has written and write down the appropriate code (i.e. 2.b), and the student can then use their copy of the marking code to read a detailed account of what has gone wrong in their writing and how to improve. I give all my students a copy of the marking code so they can use it for peer-assessment, understanding my annotations on their work, and re-writing and improving their work. The feedback sheet allows teachers to provide a vast amount of feedback and pointers for improvement, and instructs students to a development task, but with very minimal time taken.
