A small group discussion activity on Measure for Measure, Act 1, scenes 1 and 2.

Group 1 discuss the ways in which Shakespeare conveys formality and order in Scene 1 through setting, form (verse or prose), characters and language.

Group 2 discuss the ways in which Shakespeare conveys liberty and licentiousness in Scene 2 (up to line 103) through setting, form (verse or prose), characters and language.

Both groups then discuss their findings, compare the two scenes and record comparisons on the chart provided.
