This sensory story can be used for a range of different outcomes. The story looks at identity and self-esteem supporting the PHSE curriculum. It can also be used to support the narrative skills of Early Years children. However, the story can also be used to encourage expressive and receptive communication skills of children with profound and multiply learning difficulties. During the story Melvin the fish feels unloved and noticed by his friends because he isn’t brightly coloured like the other fish. However, he soon learns that everyone loves him just the way he is.
