Quick mental addition questions to do as a whole class on the board. I asked the children to work out the answer mentally and write it down on a whiteboard and then show me. The main focus of this activity was to discuss the different ways in which we might reach the same conclusion, e.g. rounding, partitioning etc. Includes seven questions of differing difficulty.

Keynote and PowerPoint formats.

Suited for a starter or plenary.

A useful resource for a whole class discussion about mental maths! The class enjoy discussing and sharing how you could get to an answer. Thanks for sharing this!
