Embed short imaginative writing activities into lessons using the PowerPoint attached.
After a recap of some of the devices examiners are looking for in students' creative, descriptive or imaginative writing, the PowerPoint contains a number of short, timed activities for students to undertake. Some activities have examples of students' attempts for the class to deconstruct.
PowerPoint also contains some examples from the master of description - Charles Dickens!
I encourage students to handwrite the mini creatives and keep them in one place, so that they can be used as inspiration and developed into a full narrative later.
Most suitable for students in Year 9 and above.
