‘Mirror’ by Sylvia Plath.

This poem can be used for students who are accessing poetry for the first time in Key Stage 3 and is a very good lesson in developing understanding of personification and other poetic effects.

Students are encouraged to develop their thoughts on the aging process and femininity within our culture.

The lesson develops the skills needed in writing a structured paragraph when expressing ideas and techniques used by the poet to express her thoughts and feelings on the aging process.
