A ‘balderdash’ style game, where students each receive a small card where they need to write their own definition of what they think is meant by ‘Motte and Bailey’ prior to learning about it.

The teacher takes in the cards, shuffles them and puts a card with the correct definition in the pile. Then she/he reads out the definitions and students vote for which they think is correct.

If a student guesses the correct answer they get a point/ merit, and each time that their answer was voted they get one too.

My students love this game!
