Lessons and worksheets to go with the book, “My Friend Jake has Autism.”
The book is narrated by a friend and talks about how autism affects Jake at school and at home. “My Friend Jake has Autism.” explains autism in a simple way. While it explains the difficulties encountered by a child with autism, it recognizes that all children with autism are different. This book is designed to enable classmates to understand a child in their class that is different. They can discuss it with the attention being on Jake rather than their classmate.
These lessons help students consider what they have learned in the book about autism and consideration for others as well as reinforcing English language concepts such as verbs and synonyms.
