A lesson that gets pupils to examine the symptoms and causes of the black death.
In addition to the resources here you will need to get 2 plague victims for the pupils to identify. I suggest drawing around someone on a large piece of paper and then drawing on the symptoms of the black death (bubonic and pneumonic) . Tape the drawings to the floor in different areas of the classroom.
Label the plague victims A and B. Get the pupils to work in pairs - send 1 person to A and the other to B. They should record the symptoms on their sheets and then return to their tables where they have an information envelope with the slides printed about the different types of plague (slides 11-16). They should then be able to work out which type of plague they are dealing with and share the information in their pair so both have the information about both bubonic and pneumonic plague.
They then need to work out what medieval people thought caused the plague from the clues around the room.
