Scheme of Work for the New OCR GCSE English Language 9-1 specification. Scheme of work/lesson plans for 5 lessons including a practice assessment.

Written by a Head of English with 8 years' teaching experience. This resource has been tried and tested successfully with a whole year group of Y9 secondary pupils. Would suit any KS4 pupils; Year 9, 10 or 11 as the resources are challenging.

Included are:
5 power points
Worksheets for all lessons
Four extracts from articles to support the scheme
A full and detailed scheme of work highlighting differentiation, SMSC etc.
A practice paper based on the articles used in the scheme

This resource covers Section A of Paper 01 in the new GCSE OCR specification. Although designed for OCR, the resources can be adapted for any exam board, especially as pre-1900 texts and comparison skills are now a key element of the new 9-1 GCSE in English.

Pupils will:

Read two passages - one 19th century/pre-1900 and one modern
Analyse the language and structure used by the authors/speakers
Explore skills of comparison through a number of different activities.
Improve understanding of grammar and vocabulary with terminology-based starters
Understand the structure of Section A of paper 01 - Exploring Effects and Impact
Approach a sample assessment that mirrors the new format of the paper - without using up one of the sample exam papers, few of which have been produced by OCR.
