KS3 Non Fiction SOW Survival Unit

15 Lessons - KS3 Unit of work on Non-Fiction with a focus on writing skills and survival. Students to imagine they are competing on a reality TV show called “The Last Survivor” in which they would have to survive on an island for 28 days. Resources Include: * 1 creative writing assessment. * Students to learn how to use complex sentences, subordinate clauses, persuasive language, emotive language, metaphors, adverbs, imperatives, and sophisticated and imaginative vocabulary. * Students to learn how to write to explain, describe and inform. * Students to write a letter, diary entries, a speech, an instruction guide, pitch a show and write a description. * Students to learn about survival and focus on building presentation skills by pitching a show at the end of the unit. * 1 Lesson on analysing the language of a non fiction text, focusing on a review of "The Island with Bear Grylls" * 3 vocabulary support sheets included. * Models to support students with their writing
