Looking to improve your learners’ comprehension in reading? These nonfiction reading comprehension passages come as paired text. They include 2 authentic newspaper articles about the Summer Games. Both reading passages are at a Primary 5 ( Key Stage 2) level and approaching grade level. There are reading comprehension questions for each informational text and an additional differentiated worksheet with 4 questions for comparing the 2 reading passages.
Practice fluency and all the main comprehension skills with these fun informational texts, while exposing kids to authentic reading material. By changing things up using these newspaper articles, I find pupils have a sense of purpose when completing the questions.
The passages would be a great supplement for teaching about the summer games in your reading lessons. Pick and choose how you want to use them. You can use the passages as close reading material for the week, homework, or for test prep. They are most appropriate for Primary 4-5 pupils.
