An lovely resource from nrich allowing KS1 or early KS2 classes to explore the ideas of square numbers, multiples and prime numbers by making squares, rectangles or sticks out of a number of cubes or tiles. The task is explained on the website, but the PowerPoint is an excellent starting point to share the problem with a class before they continue exploring other numbers for themselves.
