This PowerPoint begins with three simple applied examples, L=4C, B=8S, and T= 4S+1, that students will be able to calculate values for before they appear on the screen. With student confidence built, it moves to a practical situation of cost having two components C = 6.5P +25. Next finding the 1st difference pattern and the rule is explained and followed by 3 questions for students to apply the process of finding the rule. Finding rules for tables not beginning from terms 1,2,3…… is then introduced with two examples, and a further 3 questions for individual student work. A worksheet is included with all 6 questions (twice on A4) if you prefer to print this practice.
