Numbers and the Number System - Entry Level 3 Functional Skills Maths

This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 3 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, NOCN and Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate, 60-page workbook and a slide Powerpoint lesson on using numbers and the number system.

These resources will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:

count, read, write, order, compare numbers to 1000
approximate by rounding numbers less than 1000 to nearest 10 or 100 to check results
recognise and continue linear sequences of numbers up to 100

PowerPoint Lesson

The editable PowerPoint lesson explains the number system and how to read, write, order and compare numbers to 1000. It explains rounding to 10 and 100 and shows how rounding and estimation can be used to check calculations in real-life contexts. It also contains links to several videos on the number system, place value, rounding, estimation and example exam questions. It is an ideal resource to introduce this component of the functional skills specification and for revision purposes.

Workbook
