Political Stability

This is lesson 1 of the unit ‘Political Stability’. This lesson focuses on the role of the monarch in maintaining political stability. This two hour lesson includes an accompanying work booklet!

How did the monarchy affect popular perceptions of authority?

This lesson covers;

  • What is political stability? How do we define it? Was the Tudor period stable?
  • The importance of the monarchy
  • Great Chain of Being
  • The use of propaganda
  • The use of patronage
  • The role of the church
  • Includes a 20 question knowledge check quiz

Also includes tasks around the following exam question: ‘Throughout the Tudor period, the church consistently supported the crown.’ How far do you agree? (25 marks)

Overall students will assess what was the most important method monarchs reinforced their authority and judge the effectiveness of the role of the monarch in maintaining political stability.
