This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standard K.N.1.3, in which students will learn that ordinal numbers (up to tenth) represent object position. Begin by using the first sheet and counting objects aloud using ordinal numbers (this is the first, second, third, etc.) Next, have your students tell you which object in each row is different, using the ordinal number. For example, they will say “The fourth is different.” To assess them, use the second sheet to ask them which object is different in each row. Have them answer by giving an ordinal number.
