In this unit, “Our Journey through Africa and World Trade”, children will embark on an adventure to explore the vast and diverse continent of Africa by exploring Africa’s physical features, discovering the different countries, deserts, mountains, and rivers that shape the continent. They will delve into the biomes and climate zones of Africa, learning about the unique ecosystems and environments that support a wide range of plant and animal life. They will also investigate Africa’s natural resources. After discovering Africa they will shift our focus to world trade, examining how countries trade goods and services with each other and how this affects their economies. They will explore the UK’s trade links with Africa and other countries and investigate what fair trade means for both consumers and producers. Children will also learn about the impact of weathering and climate change on farming practices in Africa and how world trade has improved people’s lives over time. Throughout this unit, children will develop their geographical skills, critical thinking, and global awareness as they learn about the interconnectedness of our world.
