This detailed multiplication lesson plan was for an internal observation and led to me being awarded the grade ‘Outstanding’.
It is based around a theme of aliens writing a letter to the class to ask for help in organising their sports day, and it is differentiated five ways.
The most confident mathematicians in the class will be using arrays to help them understand the concept of multiplication by partitioning, while the least able mathematicians use cubes to understand multiplication as ‘groups of’ numbers.
