An investigation activity for perimeter and area. Students have to used squared paper to design a floor plan of a house based on certain criteria - e.g. the bedroom must be between 40 and 60 square metres. Once they have set out the layout of the house they then have to buy paint/wallpaper and floorings using area and perimeter calculations. Students then calculate the total cost of their house. Works well as a paired activity.
