Personification

This resource contains a fully editable 50 slide PowerPoint lesson and 16 worksheets on similes and metaphors. The PowerPoint includes an explanation and definition of similes and metaphors, why they are used, examples from poetry and literature - I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud (Wordsworth), The Ancient Mariner (Coleridge), The Highwayman (Noyes), My luv is like a red, red rose ( Burns) and Bible quotes.

It also contains images to stimulate students to compose their own similes and metaphors. The worksheets include tasks on identifying similes and metaphors in sentences, poetry and literature from The Ancient Mariner ( Coleridge), Sea Fever (Masefield), I wandered lonely as a cloud (Wordsworth), The Highwayman (Noyes), A red, red rose (Burns), bible verses and Shakespeare quotes. There are also worksheets designed to encourage pupils to compose sentences and short paragraphs containing similes and metaphors. Alliteration

This resource contains a 34 slide PowerPoint lesson on alliteration and includes an explanation of alliteration and examples from literature and poetry ( The Highwayman, The Listeners, Kubla Khan, Cargoes, Sea Fever, The Ancient Mariner, Harry Potter), the commercial world and in speeches.

There are 18 accompanying worksheets on identifying alliteration in sentences and poetry and literature from Harry Potter, The Highwayman, The Listeners, Kubla Khan, Cargoes, Sea Fever and The Ancient Mariner. Tasks also include writing sentences and short paragraphs containing alliteration using six scenes to encourage the use of alliteration.
