Persuasive Writing Word Mat KS2

This is an editable resource that can be used alongside the teaching of persuasive writing for KS2 children.

Each paragraph has its own choice of sentence starters that can be used by the pupils when writing their own persuasive text. It is colour coded and clearly presented for ease of use.

The different sections are:

• Introduction
• Paragraph 1
• Paragraph 2
• Paragraph 3
• Conclusion

Of course these can be edited to fit with your lesson plans.

There is an additional ‘key word’ section that can be personalised to the specific pupil or a class list can be created and added to this section. You may want to use this section to encourage your pupils to use the common exception spellings they are expected to know.

This resource could be laminated and used again and again with your pupils or alternatively you may wish to print the resource and allow your pupils to cross out the sentence starters once they have used them.
