Planning for series of lessons exploiting Christmas carol 'Entre le boeuf ...'

A creative way of exploiting this traditional French carol to develop skills and language. Working up to a wonderful performance outcome, the planning provides a teaching and learning sequence (including possibilities for differentiation), which can be used as a unit of work for a number of whole lessons or in shorter slots over a longer period. It includes activities and tasks which develop a wide range of language skills, and gives links to the KS2 Programme of Study. The resources required for each activity are listed and those provided as part of the resource pack* are highlighted. An indication of the level of achievement is also provided with references to Assessment Criteria.
Used in full, the lessons offer the opportunity for progression in a number of areas, however, many of the activities would work equally well in isolation.
An ideal unit of work for the run up to Christmas and a great alternative to the usual Christmas resources, which also allows the teacher to fulfill National Curriculum criteria and conduct discrete assessment. Win, Win!
