Practical data collection - group work

I planned this lesson for my yr7 mixed ability class. Students were divided into groups (I was careful to include a G&T student in each, and to spread out the SEN and EAL pupils to allow them to participate). I gave each group 3 articles from a set newspaper (3 tabloids and 3 broadsheets), and left them to collect the data, and record it in pre-printed tally charts. They then reported to the rest of the class, and we discussed the nature of the data.
