Punctuating Direct Speech

Lower KS2. This worksheet should be used once the concept of direct speech is understood. It works well as an independent activity to test understanding of punctuating speech. Students must use capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks, commas and speech marks to successfully complete the activity. Children also have the opportunity to demonstrate understanding of using 1st person narrative only during speech, and then moving to 3rd person once speech marks are closed.
