All the resources to get your school set up with a simple reading incentive system.

Individuals: Each child has a bookmark. This can either be kepts in a place in class or by the child. Depends how easily they lose things! I keep them in class. When they get a milestone, they get a sticker or signed and date on that milestone. It’s added to a tracker too - just a spreadsheet or class list so you can track who isn’t reading and support.

Classes: each class has a reading river display. This contains little photos of class books that they’ve read. They add the mile circles to this river. Each child has their name on a river card and as they reach the milestones, they move their name up to the next one.

Whole school: there is a river somewhere communal. The milestone circles are along the river. Each class has a set of icons, laminated, and as children move you can add the number for the class total. A great way to get some class reading competition going! When a child reaches a milestone, they get a certificate in assembly for all to see!
