Reading Standards Goal Sheet. In order to meet standards, students are expected to do more independent reading. This 2 page hand-out is very specific about what students must do daily in order to meet state standards in reading. Research suggests middle schoolers should read 25 books or a million words per year. Based on that standard, your students will have a place to monitor weekly goals, as well as making sure that different genres are being read. Useful tool for getting started on your reading program.
