BNP Paribas have partnered with Gemserv and Teach First to develop this fantastic lesson pack – Renewable Energy and Electricity: Powering a Net Zero Future. For GCSE Physics students, this material covers the primary sources of energy and electricity, including renewables such as wind, solar, tidal, and hydro, and nuclear as well as fossil fuel-based sources, such as oil, natural gas, and coal. A bespoke animated video is included to help cover the introductory material within the topic.

A range of tasks are included, a presentation for general usage in a class-based environment, exam-style questions, and a comprehension exercise provide the basis for teaching, whilst additional materials, such as a homework and poster task, combine to create an engaging and informative lesson. A tailored lesson plan is provided to help guide teachers throughout the material

The material covers key themes taught across multiple exam board specifications. Specifically targeting:

• AQA 4.1.3
• Edexcel 3.13, 3.14
• OCR P8.2A, P8.2B

All feedback is appreciated. Please let us know if we can improve the lesson any further.

This lesson pack is part of a series of free sustainability resources produced by BNP Paribas UK, Gemserv and Teach First through the Leaders for a Changing World partnership. You can access the other resources in the series below:

Heard about this from a colleague and signed up to TES -- this is a great resource pack! We used the video last week in an assembly focused on Net Zero because it was so clear. Would recommend to other teachers who are finding challenges with engaging students on these this topic.

Great resource pack. We've been doing a few projects / coursework focused pieces on sustainability in the buildup to COP27, but I'm eager to get stuck in here and give this lesson a try after reading through the pack docs. Thanks for the great and timely content 👍🏻

great lesson plan and resources, with quality video too! kids in my classes are BIG into climate change and net zero but it can be a struggle to bring this to life for them sometimes. Looks like I won't have that issue any longer!
