This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Level 1 (Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, AQA, Highfield Qualifications, NOCN, Open Awards). It contains an editable, age-appropriate, 200-slide Powerpoint lesson and a 60-page workbook on percentages.
These resources are ideal for Entry Level students progressing to Level 1.
These resource will help pupils to achieve these learning outcomes:
calculate percentages of quantities - 5% and multiples of 5%
calculate percentage increases and decreases by 5% and multiples 0f 5%
recognise and calculate equivalences between common fractions,
percentages and decimals
use percentages to solve real-life maths problems
Workbook
The workbook contains 18 explanation pages, 36 worksheets, 4 progress checks and a certificate of achievement. It is provided in PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to enable editing of the resource. It can be used for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
PowerPoint Lesson
The editable, 200 slide PowerPoint lesson clearly explains and demonstrates how to carry out all the calculations for the percentage element of the Level 1 specification. It provides many opportunities for students to practice these skills and to apply them to solving real-life problems. The PowerPoint also contains links to several short videos on percentages and example percentage examination questions.
It is an ideal resource to introduce the percentages component of the Level 1 specification and for revision purposes.
