A fully differentiated lesson designed to last one hour with year 11 pupils in order to revise the poem ‘London’.
Activities include: a think-pair-share on the connotations of London with images, a challenge objective and register challenge. The starter activity gives students the choice of ordering events in the poem or annotating a series of images which chart the events of the text with take it further tasks. Mild, medium and hot question follows with Q4 (ELang P1) style question as stimulus for responses. The mini-plenary is a quiz (if this is the answer, what is the question - with questions on animated reveal). The main activity is a context treasure hunt and quote explosion with a relevant plenary to summarise learning.
