This is a resource I created for National Poetry Day - I used it with Y7 and Y8, and it went down very well. We began by reading La Fourmi together and working out what it meant, then pupils wrote and illustrated their own versions (examples included).
You could leave it at that, but my pupils went on to do a project in teams where each group had a different Desnos poem and had to work out what it was about (the gist rather than translating it) and present it to the class by reading it out in French, alongside a powerpoint with images to illustrate it, and then explain in English what it was about. This took about 5 lessons altogether and the pupils were very engaged with it all.

Great way to engage learners with poetry. Can't wait to see the results.
