Black History Month / Rosa Parks - KS1 KS2 Primary

In this lesson, we will celebrate Black History by exploring the remarkable achievements of black women across the globe, with a focus on Rosa Parkes. Best suited to students from UKS1 (Year 2) to LKS2 (Years 3 - 4), this engaging and editable lesson provides a gentle and age-appropriate introduction to the concepts of fairness, equality, discrimination and injustice.

The lesson begins with an interactive starter, introducing four notable black women, and then delves into an exploration of Rosa Parks’ life and contributions in the main section. Through age-appropriate content, students will learn about fairness, empathy, and the significance of treating everyone equally as they delve into Rosa Parks’ pivotal role in the civil rights movement.

This lesson aims to honour the achievements of black women, celebrate their valuable contributions, and encourage discussions about equality and justice.
