This lesson is designed to last for 1 hour and is resourced with videos, extension questioning, deep thinking and uses graphs/images to aid learning.

This lesson follows the Edexcel KS4 curriculum and looks at why our cities are growing outwards. Students will first define keywords such as greenbelt, commuter settlement, urban sprawl and others. Students will investigate reasons for the growth and also impacts of this growth as well before being introduced to greenfield and brownfield sites. Students will look at advantages and disadvantages of building on each of these.

This lesson includes a starter, lesson objective, plenary, exam question and various student led activities.
