I have analysed the 2016 grammar SATs paper based on the year group the content is introduced in. Each question has the content domain code and the objective taken directly from the primary English curriculum (English Appendix 2: Vocabulary, grammar and punctuation (p64-9)). The analysis has shown that 39.5% of the content is from the KS1 curriculum, and 43.5% is from the years 3-5 curriculum. This document could be used in a staff meeting to highlight collective responsibility for SATs. Further breakdown below:
Year 1 – 6.5% (3/46 questions)
Year 2 – 33% (15/46 questions)
Year 3 – 19.5% (9/46)
Year 4 – 11% (5/46)
Year 5 – 13% (6/46)
Year 6 – 17% (8/46)
