In this lesson, students will clear about Carl Linneaus, the father of taxonomy, and his system of classifying and naming organisms. They will learn what classification is, they will watch a video about Carl Linneaus and will learn about his system which classifies organisms acorrding to the domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Students will investigate these terms and will research their own choices of creatures and how they would be classified.
This is an engaging lesson which comes with an interactive power point presentation and necessary worksheets. It is designed for Year 6 but could easily be modified to suit lower KS2 and KS3.
