Social Story: All About Hugs

Our children and students sometimes have a hard time keeping their hands to themselves, and might have the tendency to hug others, whether it be friends, teachers or strangers. This is especially true of our kids who have ADHD or who are on the autism or fetal alcohol spectrums - and are impulsive and hyperactive, and have little awareness of personal space. This social story helps teach children what is acceptable and unacceptable hugging, and suggests some alternative behaviours and strategies that are more acceptable in social settings.

This social story conveys these themes using practical examples, engaging visuals, and developmentally appropriate language.

We hope this social story helps you to help the children you work with!
