Here are two versions of the same lesson - one with a booklet-style worksheet and one with smaller 'glue in' type diagrams.
They cover the whole activate lesson so it's quite packed. The file size is large due to a video which is optional enrichment and can be removed if you find it problematic.
Not on this presentation but a fun thing to do if you have time is to get a few volunteers to scream as loud as possible into a sound meter and record their dB. This is a great way of introducing them to the base 10 nature of the scale as there is always a huge difference in their abilities to shout loud but not a big difference in the dB readings.
Lesson comprises:
Short starter on waveforms AfL
Short recap on sound wave propagation
Structure and function of the ear + AfL
What covers hearing loss (according to activate) + AfL
Loudness and the dB scale - I usually get kids to draw around a template.
Microphone to ear comparison (+AfL)
Plenary quiz
Note - some of the worksheet is from somewhere else - I can't quite remember where, and some of the images are lifted from Activate to compliment the book.

Very helpful. Thanks for sharing
Great Resource - Y9 class enjoyed the ppt , especially The Who. The well constructed worksheet engaged students and confirmed understanding.
I used this resource in my year 8 class today and the kids absolutely loved the structure of the lesson. The worksheet activity was very interesting and we complimented it with a video on the function of the ear.
