This lesson was for year 9 students who were starting their GCSEs a year early. As part of this, they needed to revise states of matter. As I did not know their previous knowledge, the lesson is designed so that students can determine their current knowledge and then build on this. The students then assess their knowledge at the end.
There are 5 tasks that the students do-task 1 being the most simple.
All the information for the tasks is stated in the powerpoint - the tasks should be printed for the students to take (the activity document).
For task 1 you will need a box containing different elements and compounds so that students can identify which are solids, liquids of gases.
