Stave 1 Scrooge Quotations with Analysis

Partially completed slide and fully completed slides included.

This powerpoint includes an in-depth dive into the following quotations:
‘hard and sharp as flint’
‘solitary as an oyster’
‘he iced his office in the dog days’
‘Are there no prisons? And the union workhouses?’

Each slide has:

1. who says the quotation and when, plus an example of the quotation embedded into a sentence
2. the technique used in the quotation i.e. simile, metaphor, repetition, rhetorical question, pathetic fallacy
3. analysis for at least 2 words/phrases from the quotation
4. an alternative interpretation of the quotation
5. the theme/s the quotation relates to i.e. isolation, generosity, poverty, social responsibility
6. A linking quotation that is either similar or contrasting and how
7. An idea about the writer’s purpose and/or relevant contextual information
