I really liked this concept of the maths table and resources table.... loved the visualization and the progression to abstract. <br />

This clip gives some really good ideas for teaching fractions. It was good to see how the learning moved from the concrete to the abstract.

I think it a fantastic resource and students of all levels can be involved in the learning process and picture what a fraction looks like in their head.Students can move around and it is easier to move from this concrete concept to the more abstract concepts later on.Students can visualise how three thirds make a whole as the representation is 3 dimensional and is something that they are very familiar with.

Fantastic way to start with sensory and move to abstract method of teaching fractions and operations!

I will try it as I know this kinaesthetic approach does work. Cups are a quick and inexpensive resource too but using shapes which the children cut up themselves would also work. The beauty of the cup lies in its 3D ness for demonstration purposes .
