Are you teaching about telling time in German or ‘Die Zeit’? Students will practice German time vocabulary by playing these 4 fun low-prep Roll and Say games. Ideal for pairs & small groups to answer, “Wie spät ist es?” and encourage using new vocabulary so that students consolidate how to say different times in German
The 4 engaging games have clocks that range from easy (game 1) to challenging (Game 4) so differentiation is easy and there is something suitable for different abilities. Playing games and discussing *vocabulary is something that I have found works well when I have taught German (and French)
The games are ideal for independent groups or adult-supported groups and are a great way for you to find out how confident students are to recognize and work out German times, pronunciations and discuss any misconceptions e.g. half the hour. They are great for Back-to-School activities to encourage German after a holiday when remembering and using vocabulary may be a bit tricky!
Here is what you will get:- Game 1 o’clock - …UHR
- Game 2 o’clock & half past - …UHR & HALB… - (ideal to reinforce the difference between half past… and halb… in German)
- Game 3 o’clock, half past, quarter to & past - …UHR, HALB…, VIERTEL VOR…, VIERTEL NACH…
- Game 4 o’clock, half past, quarter to & past & minutes - …UHR, HALB…, VIERTEL VOR…, VIERTEL NACH… …MINUTEN
