The Blue Umbrella (2013) Pixar Short Guide | Questions | Personification | Theme challenges students to analyze this 7 minute Pixar Short animation. Discuss the use of personification and how the story would be different if humans were the main characters. Compare and contrast the blue umbrella with the other umbrellas. Explore how music is used to move the plot along and influence the viewer. Finally, identify the theme and ask students what lesson they can learn from the animation.

NOTE: This video CAN’T be found on YouTube easily as of 5/2021

This resource consists of 6 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

Distance Learning Tips:
Distribute the digital PDF file or the google forms version to each student
Use the screen sharing tool on your group call software to play the movie
Pause the movie at each question to give students time to write/discuss
