The current balance is a useful meter. Sophisticated versions of it are used in very sensitive current-measuring experiments. However, it is not very portable or easy to use.

I used to use this with Y9 in the 1980s. Not sure if anyone is still doing this practical. In theory it is a fundamental measurement, and the activity gives useful practical details.
