This PowerPoint contains 101 philosophical debates for the Geography classroom. It covers a broad array of topics: all aim to trigger philosophical debates and discussions that relate to Geography.

Each debate slide asks students to move to one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position.

It also includes a ‘randomiser’ slide so that you can generate random debate topics instantly.

It is aimed at students aged 12-18: as with many philosophical issues, these are engaging for young people and adults!

There are many uses:
-End of lesson discussions in the Geography classroom
-Instant cover lessons for Geography teachers
-Form-time/tutor-groups
-Debating societies
-Boosting SMSC in Geography classrooms
-Boosting cross-curricular links in Geography classrooms
-Fostering cross-curricular links to Geography in other subjects!

I'd always wanted a resource like this: it raises some amazing philosophical issues I'd never thought of before. I use it in KS3 and KS4 classes at the end of lessons and we've had some great debates and discussions. Simple, easy to use, comprehensive. Many thanks!
