The Great Gatsby and Life of Pi - Comparative Coursework Study for A-Level

This bundle will help prepare students to complete their A-Level comparative coursework study focussing on the texts of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Life of Pi by Yann Martel (originally for Edexcel Unit 4). All students who were originally taught this obtained B-A* grades on their coursework. The Great Gatsby scheme is to be taught first followed by Life of Pi. The last few Life of Pi lessons focus on comparative evaluation of both texts and introduction to the cousework. The Life of Pi unit also includes two comprehensive coursework plans (outlining A01, A02, A03, A04 and A05) on the following questions which students can choose from: 1) *Compare how both authors explore the concept of identity construction* 2) *Compare how both authors explore the theme of spiritual fulfilment and self-actualisation* Both schemes of learning include A05 critical papers. Lessons focus on the key skill of evaluation to allow students to reach the top bands of the mark scheme.

The Great Gatsby and The Bloody Chamber - A-Level Comparative Coursework Study

This bundle will help prepare students to complete their A-Level comparative coursework study focussing on the texts of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter (originally for Edexcel Unit 4). All students who were originally taught this obtained B-A* grades on their coursework. The Great Gatsby scheme is to be taught first. All of The Bloody Chamber lessons refer back to The Great Gatsby and each week culminates in students writing a comparative essay which can then be used as the foundations for their coursework. Students are given an option of 7 coursework questions, looking at the themes of: Desire, Gender, Wealth and Power; Spiritual fulfilment and self-actualisation. Both schemes of learning include A05 critical papers. Lessons focus on the key skill of evaluation to allow students to reach the top bands of the mark scheme.

So, upon opening the first ppt the purchaser sees a "note to teacher". It would have been nice to have seen this before spending 18 euros on the resource. However good it maybe, it's probably of no use to me now...
