4 weeks of lesson plans around the Green Ship text. The lessons are Power of Reading style, encouraging descriptive writing through immersive work, including art and drama. These lessons are suitable for LKS2 (year3&4).
The first two weeks are spent exploring the book, writing in the style of the author and understanding the characters. The second two weeks are focused on creating their own version of the Green Ship, with structured lessons around each paragraph. The unit of work gradually builds up until the children can write up a whole narrative based around their own green ‘ship’. Emphasis is placed upon different sentence structures and sentence openings, including adverb openers. Editing skills are also taught within the unit, with children writing a first draft, editing and then writing a final piece.

I agree with a previous reviewer - it is dissapointing this resource doesn't come with the accompanying resources.
The plans are very detailed which I really like. Plenty of variety in the activities which I also think is great. Obviously, each teacher using these plans will need to make adjustments to ensure the planning meets the needs of a specific cohort. The only disappointment was the lack of accompanying resources.
